A General Update

Published by under Friends,The Miller's!

Been a few days or so since I updated everyone on what’s been going on so here goes…

MBS – We had a doctors appointment today for another ultrasound.  All was well.  She is in the 38 percentile as far as growth.  She currently weighs 2 pounds 10 ounces.  Growth rate all was right on track the doctor said.  Another visit and another strike out on ultrasound pics.  I am half tempted to go to one of those 3D places simply because we haven’t gotten any real good shots yet.  Matthew was his usual hilarious self.  I don’t know if I mentioned this in the other posts but when the doctor got over the heart and we could see the heart moving Matthew says “Look baby is talking to me!”  He really thinks the heart beating is her mouth moving 🙂  He was pretty good though in picking things out.  It all went by in a blur to be honest but Matthew picked a lot out.  The miracle of…Technology.  Of course I had to say it right 😉  Let me say that the miracle of life is right up there, but I am still fascinated that technology can peak inside a person’s body and get pictures of a spine wrigglin around in real time.  Just to be able to see the babies head, and spine, and heart beating, it truly is awe inspiring.

The Move –  Most of the last few updates have been about our move.  If you are oblivious or missed out, we relocated to Newark, DE as we wait for our house to sell.  The move itself went very well.  We have found a few things that didn’t make it but all in all, it went well.  Today was recycling day so last night I killed myself getting all the empty boxes out of the house 🙂  I was even amazed at how much more room there was.  Outside of the freezing cold first floor and the lack of DirecTV, I think we both are very happy with the place.

The Thiers – Just wanted to give a quick congrats the Angie and the Thiers family on the birth of Chandler James Thier.  He was born 3:30pm on Saturday March 1st.  He weighed 8lbs and 11oz and was 21 inches long.  Just wanted to pat myself on the back as I guessed the weight exactly and was a tenth of an inch off of the length, not too shabby I say 🙂  Congrats guys and best wishes!

Welcome Home Chandler!

Not much else to say at this point.  Think I will catch a TiVo’ed show while Matthew and Michelle nap before tackling some more boxes.  Hope everyone is doing well!

Love, Scott, Michelle, Matthew, and MBS!

What’s in a Name?

Quite a bit 🙂  I actually just wanted to let everyone know that I changed the Poll on our front page so that guests can vote.  We weren’t getting much action requiring a log in so I changed that.  Please vote up, I am curious to see what other people think 🙂  You can vote on the front page of our site at the top right.

So is it a Boy or a Girl?

Published by under The Miller's!

It’s been awhile since I have posted, plus there was a ton of things that happened today, and of course I want to build the suspense, so this might take awhile 🙂

After Michelle and Matthew dropped me off at work, they went and ate breakfast and dropped by Walmart to waste some time until the doctors appointments.  Michelle started picking some small things out one in blue and one in pink.  She started asking Matthew which one he liked.  After awhile he started saying “I don’t like the pink one, I want the blue.”  Previously Matthew has really not commented on the boy or girl question, other than a small “I want a baby brother.”

In any case, they came and picked me up from work off we went to the doctors.  Michelle’s first appointment was her visit with the high risk doctors.  As usual we waited and waited and finally got into an office where one of the doctors in the practice came and chatted with us.  We went over a few things and we then were pushed back into the waiting room to wait for a room for the ultrasound.  He I think we waited another hour before being taken back, but the time waiting was well spent as we discussed more baby names.  After awhile, Matthew finally wanted to join in so he gave his opinion on all our suggestions, “No!” and gave some choices of his own, Mater, Marlin, Nemo, Sally, and various other cartoon characters 🙂

Michelle went back first because the nurse didn’t want Matthew around if by chance there was anything wrong.  I don’t know about you, but this bothered me.  I understand her concern for Matthew, but he is so young, the only thing he understand is if his mother or father are upset.  What about Michelle, should something be wrong, she would have been alone in this cold room as the nurse tells her “I am so sorry to tell you this, but…”.  In any case MBS was not cooperating very well so Michelle went to relieve her bladder and try to get MBS to turn some to get a better look see.  In the mean time, the nurse brought us back to the room and we waited for Michelle to get back.

Michelle got back and got all set up and here’s where the fun began 🙂  Matthew stood on the stool next to her and I stood up as we watched the pictures come across the screen.  I have to pause here and say, in my opinion, ultrasounds are the most amazing thing in the world.  There is nothing like knowing you have created a new being, but to see this being alive, moving, and to actually see fingers, and bones, and a spine, all I can say is breath taking.  Matthew really enjoys seeing the baby on the screen and talks the whole time.  Well we get a good picture of the heart and see it beating up a storm and the nurse tells up it’s the heart but Matthew proclaims to us “I see the babies head!”  We try to tell him that it is the heart but he was having nothing to do with it, “See you can see the mouth moving!”  Well we all got a kick out of that and the nurse kept getting pretty good shots of the fingers and arms and legs, the whole nine yards.

Well MBS was not cooperating much at all in getting a head shot or a genital shot so the nurse proceed to push pretty hard into Michelle’s stomach and wiggle quite hard.  Kind of felt bad for the kid as they were going through a hurricane right now 🙂  Well MBS finally moved a bit and we did get to see the head and face as well as a quick glance at the genitals.

Have I put you through enough torture yet 😉  Well, with 95% certainty the nurse says, “It’s a girl!”  To be honest I am thrilled for Michelle, because I knew she wanted a girl.  The cliche of wanting a healthy baby is really true for me.  The only thing I care about is a healthy baby whatever 🙂  But the only thing I am having difficulties with at this point is that I don’t see a baby girl currently at 20 weeks old, no, I see a 16 year old beautiful young lady trying to go on a date and me with numerous guns there cleaning them as her date comes calling to the house.  At some point pretty quickly I am going to hvae to get this image out of my head 🙂  In any case, she had her legs crossed at the ankles and her head down to her chest which made things very difficult.  The nurse and the doctor who later came in said that everything looked great.  She currently weighs 12 ounces.  No visual birth defects, everything looked completely normal which I am thrilled with.

Well Matthew still I don’t think has taken to the fact that he will have a little baby sister instead of a brother.  Michelle is a little worried about that but I told her he will have to adjust to any new child, boy or girl, doesn’t matter.

To be honest I can barely keep my eyes open any longer as this has taken way longer than I wanted, but it was fun torturing all of you that made it this far 🙂 The next step is to go to the polls section and vote for what name you like.  Michelle and I have our favorite, but I am not willing to call it a day yet as we still have plenty of time left to make a decision.

Thank you to all of you that read this and for all the support you all give us!

All our love, Scott, Michelle, Matthew, and MBS! 🙂

First Look at MBS!

Published by under The Miller's!

Well for those who haven’t heard the story let me tell the story of our first ultrasound for MBS.

First a little background.  Michelle has always said she has had this feeling or premonition that she would have twins.  I have always just shrugged it off as wishful thinking on her part 🙂  In any case we go and get situated in the room and the doctor comes in to perform the ultrasound.  She start off saying “I apologize, it’s a new machine and they did training last Friday and I wasn’t here.”  Already the confidence levels are jumping through the roof.  She proceeds to poke and prod Michelle trying to catch a glimpse of the little one.  Finally she gets a good shot and starts to look real closely.  The first thing out of her mouth is “Oh look there is a membrane across the placenta, it looks like twins.”  My mouth probably was hitting the floor at this point, but I am glad I wasn’t in too much shock because the next thing out of her mouth was “but it doesn’t look like there is another one on the other side.”  Well then the mind starts racing, is this a bad thing, is it dangerous for the baby or Michelle, why would she just blurt this out without any explanation or warning or anything like this!!  Finally she gets another nurse to come in and she takes over for what seemed like a few brief seconds and she got a better view and she said it was nothing, but she wanted to get the other doctor in to take a peak.  In the mean time she is taking picture after picture of the baby and taking measurements.  The other doctor comes in and reassures us there is no membrane and everything looks great.  So before the doctors leave the first hack, I mean doctor, says oh here let me give you a picture.  So she tears off one picture out of the 25 or so she took and says thanks and walks out.  So all this to say, drum roll please…Here’s a look at MBS (Miller Baby Squared for those not hip to 😉 )

2 Times the Fun!

Published by under The Miller's!

For the few of you that have not heard or for whatever reason we haven’t been able to get in touch with , that’s right ladies and gents, we have another one on the way! I learned a few weeks ago that Michelle is pregnant with our second child. The due date is May 25,2008. Timing wasn’t the greatest since we are still trying to sell the house and relocate to Philly for the fourth time, but we both are very excited. Please keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers as I am sure Michelle will have more difficulties as we had with Matthew. We’ll keep you updated as best we can!

Love,

Scott, Michelle, Matthew, and MBS (Miller Baby Squared) 🙂
